Is a job with accommodation right for me?Getting a job that provides accommodation can be a cheap way to live in London or elsewhere. It can also provide a good opportunity to meet other people and make friends as you will often be sharing accommodation with other workers. The accommodation is usually furnished so there isn't a need to buy lots of new things for your new home. This option can be particularly good for you if you are moving to a new area but are not sure if you want to stay there long term. It will allow you to get a job, get a home and meet new people all at the same time - but without a long term commitment from you. One of the disadvantages is that you can only stay in the accommodation as long as you keep your job. And many, but not all, of the jobs that provide accommodation tend to be low paid. So for most people this will just be a temporary housing option. The cost of accommodation that comes with a job will vary widely. Some employers will simply quote you a wage from which they have already deducted your keep. So for instance, you may only earn £90 per week but your employer may also provide you with free accommodation, meals and pay most of your bills on top of that.
